Postdoc Funded Position in Plant-Soil / Plant-Insect Interactions at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada [Salary: $60,000 CAD]
Postdoc Funded Position in Plant-Soil / Plant-Insect Interactions at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada; Bennett Ecology Lab: Basic and applied ecology focusing on plant-soil interactions: Our research focuses on plant-plant and plant-soil interactions (especially mycorrhizas), with occasional work on plant-pollinator interactions. We are interested in how these interactions affect plant populations and communities, particularly through invasion. Current project span forests, grasslands and tame pastures.
We are reopening a search for a postdoc in my group. We are looking for a curious person with an interest in plant-soil / plant-insect interactions. The successful candidate will work on a large project on grassland ecology. We will be sampling plants, soils, and insects across the Canadian prairies to identify native plants associated with enhanced ecosystem services.
Salary is $60,000 CAD per year plus benefits. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Saskatoon, Canada – thriving small city with a relatively low cost of living.
To apply: This is a short call and we are looking for applications by March 24, 2024.
Interested applicants should send their CVs to Prof. Jon Bennett, email: jon.bennett@usask.ca.
Join our large and diverse team: https://research-groups.usask.ca/bennett-lab/ As a general rule, students are most likely to be successful when applying to join a research lab if they stand out. We receive many student applications, but research funds are limited and we can only take so many students at a time. This applies not only to our lab, but to most research labs at our university and elsewhere. It is challenging to respond to all of the requests for supervision, although most faculty, including myself, will respond to students who clearly demonstrate an understanding of their research programs. To stand out, you should demonstrate that you understand what kind of research is conducted in the target lab and that you are enthusiastic about that research in particular. Simply stating that you have read some of our papers, especially if those papers did not originate in our labs, is unlikely to get you a positive response.
