Ph.D. position in algal biotechnology PhD position - 3 years (m/f/d) Algal biotechnology Leipzig University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Institute of Biology, Plant Physiology group of Prof. Severin Sasso, Leipzig, Germany Start: 1 July 2024 Deadline: 7 May 2024 The Plant Physiology group at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, offers a Ph.D. position (Promotionsstelle) starting from 1 July 2024, subject to formal funding approval. Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. The aim of a new third-party-funded project is to improve glycolate secretion. For this purpose, we want to use physical mutagenesis (e.

2 Postdoctoral Researchers Jobs in Plant Metabolism and Immunity at the Institute for Plant Sciences, University of Cologne in Germany 2 Postdoctoral Researchers Jobs in Plant Metabolism and Immunity at the Institute for Plant Sciences, University of Cologne in Germany; We are one of the largest and oldest universities in Europe and one of the most important employers in our region. Our broad range of subjects, the dynamic development of our main research areas and our central location in Cologne, make us attractive for students and researchers from around the world. We offer a wide range of career opportunities in science, technology, and administration. The new research initiative ‘Immunometabolism in Health and Disease’, financed by the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, is a highly interdisciplinary project in which molecular, cellular and biochemical data from plant and animal systems will be produced to advance the understanding of cellular metabolic programmes underpinnin

Postdoc Funded Position in Evolution of ACC and Plant-Microbe Interaction at KU Leuven in Belgium Postdoc Funded Position in Evolution of ACC and Plant-Microbe Interaction at KU Leuven in Belgium; The lab of Prof. Bram Van de Poel conducts fundamental research on plant hormones. We deploy a variety of molecular, biochemical, and physiological approaches to study plant hormones and how they control plant development and stress resilience. We are looking for a postdoc to study the role of ACC signaling in plant-microbe interactions from an evolutionary perspective, in collaboration with Prof. Barbara De Coninck, KU Leuven and Dr. Francisco Nascimento (iBET, Lisbon, Portugal). Responsibilities; In the framework of our ERC Consolidator grant, we are looking for a highly motivated and skilled postdoc to conduct cutting-edge science on plant-microbe interaction and elucidating the role of ACC (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid) herein. ACC is the known precursor of the phytohormone et
