Ph.D. position in algal biotechnology PhD position - 3 years (m/f/d) Algal biotechnology Leipzig University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Institute of Biology, Plant Physiology group of Prof. Severin Sasso, Leipzig, Germany Start: 1 July 2024 Deadline: 7 May 2024 The Plant Physiology group at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, offers a Ph.D. position (Promotionsstelle) starting from 1 July 2024, subject to formal funding approval. Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. The aim of a new third-party-funded project is to improve glycolate secretion. For this purpose, we want to use physical mutagenesis (e.

Hands-on Workshop on Application Bioinformatics - 2020

About the Workshop Knowledge in Bioinformatics becomes inevitable to be successful in academics and industry which deals with any life science research. By understanding this clearly, in July and August 2020, the Annakkili Amma Research Institute (AARI) organizes the 10 days “Workshop on Application Bioinformatics” intending to provide hands-on training for the students and researchers in modern and essential in-silico tools. Objectives and Highlights of the workshop  To improve practical knowledge of bioinformatics among the students and young researchers.  To give the participants hands-on experience in using various genomics and proteomics tools.  To support the researchers in fine-tuning their research to achieve the proper results.  Only 10 candidates are allotted for a slot.  Individual support in learning and assignments will be given as the part of the training. Topics to be covered Bioinfo Databases Genomic tools Proteomic tools Molbio and cloning tools Designing (PCR/RT-
