Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources.  18 Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Fellowships at the Chemical Biological Centre, Umeå, Sweden Several Interdisciplinary (18) Postdoctoral Fellowships (2 years) at the Chemical Biological Centre, Umeå, Sweden The Chemical Biological Centre (KBC), jointly with several departments at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), offer four postdoctoral fellowships that will be affiliated with interdisciplinary projects (see list below).
