Ph.D. position in algal biotechnology PhD position - 3 years (m/f/d) Algal biotechnology Leipzig University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Institute of Biology, Plant Physiology group of Prof. Severin Sasso, Leipzig, Germany Start: 1 July 2024 Deadline: 7 May 2024 The Plant Physiology group at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, offers a Ph.D. position (Promotionsstelle) starting from 1 July 2024, subject to formal funding approval. Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. The aim of a new third-party-funded project is to improve glycolate secretion. For this purpose, we want to use physical mutagenesis (e.

Postdoc Funded Position in Monitoring Arthropod and Plant Diversity in Austria via an Environmental DNA Approach [Salary: €4158/month] Postdoc Funded Position in Monitoring Arthropod and Plant Diversity in Austria via an Environmental DNA Approach; This postdoc position in the GeMonA+ project: Development of a genetic module for biodiversity monitoring in Austria, Project Description; The efficient and informative monitoring of biodiversity is imperative to recognize changes in species communities and as such, a key component of the EU and Austrian biodiversity strategy 2030+. The project GeMonA+ aims to optimize a molecular toolbox for biodiversity monitoring in Austria relying on malaise trap catches, sweep-netting and environmental DNA obtained from plant surfaces. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with a burning interest for contributing to biodiversity monitoring and the optimization of molecular tools to join our research team as a postdoc.  Postdoc Funded Position in Evolution of ACC and Plant-Microbe Interaction at KU Leuven in Belgium Postdoc Funded Position in Evolution of ACC and Plant-Microbe Interaction at KU Leuven in Belgium; The lab of Prof. Bram Van de Poel conducts fundamental research on plant hormones. We deploy a variety of molecular, biochemical, and physiological approaches to study plant hormones and how they control plant development and stress resilience. We are looking for a postdoc to study the role of ACC signaling in plant-microbe interactions from an evolutionary perspective, in collaboration with Prof. Barbara De Coninck, KU Leuven and Dr. Francisco Nascimento (iBET, Lisbon, Portugal). Responsibilities; In the framework of our ERC Consolidator grant, we are looking for a highly motivated and skilled postdoc to conduct cutting-edge science on plant-microbe interaction and elucidating the role of ACC (1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid) herein. ACC is the known precursor of the phytohormone et
