While marine red algae dominate our coastal vocabulary, their freshwater counterparts, the Rhodophyta, represent an ancient and highly specialized evolutionary lineage. Elimination cells in the Batrachospermaceae by M S Balakrishnan and B B Chaugule

The first observation of Elimination cells in Members of Batrachospermaceae was observed and published by Prof. M S Balakrishnan and Prof B B Chaugule in 1975. Due to one or another reason this communication was not reached globally and their detailed article published in 1980 which got a higher impact globally and also at the same time 1979 Stotsch and Theil published the same observation and which got higher impacts. Here is the first communication of Prof M S Balakrishnan and Prof B B Chaugule which was published in Current Science as letters to the Editor.

AARI Summer Internship on Algal Biotechnology for Pachaiyappa's College, Chennai Students May-June 2025

 Summer Internship 2025 Annakkili Amma Research Institute (AARI), conducted 15 days summer internship program for Pachaiyappa's College, Chennai, PG Botany final year students.  The Internship program was covering Biomass Production, Biomass Harvesting, Biomass Processing, Lipid Extraction, Phycoremediation, SLF and other topics related to Algal Biotechnology.
