As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. Notably, our lab is equipped with a state-of-the-art frequency-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy, which is the only one of its kind in the state of Missouri.

The laboratory of Dr. Angel Baldan in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Saint Louis University has an immediate opening for a junior postdoctoral fellow with proven expertise in lipid/sterol metabolism, ncRNAs, RNA-seq, and/or molecular mechanisms of diet-induced diseases (CVD, NAFLD, obesity). The Baldan laboratory has ongoing research programs related to lipid droplet-associated proteins, sterol-regulated ncRNAs, and liver/adipose/intestinal/lipoprotein lipid homeostasis. An independent and highly motivated candidate with a recent Ph.D. degree and rigorous training in molecular/cell biology is required for the position.
