Ph.D. position in algal biotechnology PhD position - 3 years (m/f/d) Algal biotechnology Leipzig University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Institute of Biology, Plant Physiology group of Prof. Severin Sasso, Leipzig, Germany Start: 1 July 2024 Deadline: 7 May 2024 The Plant Physiology group at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, offers a Ph.D. position (Promotionsstelle) starting from 1 July 2024, subject to formal funding approval. Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. The aim of a new third-party-funded project is to improve glycolate secretion. For this purpose, we want to use physical mutagenesis (e.

5. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Dewey Lab at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine (https://sites.usc.edu/deweylab/). Our lab conducts research into the mechanisms underlying normal and impaired hearing using wild-type and mutant mouse models. Research methods include in vivo acoustic measurements, electrophysiology, and optical techniques, as well as tissue collection and immunohistochemistry of inner ear structures. This NIH-funded position will specifically use optical coherence tomography to image and measure sound-evoked vibrations from within the mouse cochlea, with the overarching goal of understanding how the cochlear outer hair cells produce mechanical amplification, and how this amplification process leads to emission of sound from the ear.

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The USC Roski Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, is seeking a highly trained professional to fill the position of Postdoctoral Scholar – Research Associate, located on the Health Science Campus. A Research Associate is needed in the department of Ophthalmology to support the research project that is ongoing under the supervision of Dr. Sun Young Lee. Dr. Lee is searching for a qualified candidate to join NEI funded our multidisciplinary project, focusing on the development of intraocular extracellular vesicle (EV) therapeutics for various retinal diseases. In our approach, we utilize EVs as drug delivery carriers by modifying their surfaces, enabling active targeting of diseased tissues. Additionally, we explore the modification of cargo loading with target molecules. Our research also delves into the use of stem cell-derived EVs as a next-generation, cell-free cell therapy for retinal diseases.
