AARI is the first Algal Biotechnology Training and Research Institute in Chennai. AARI is equipped with a state-of-the-art bio-analytical lab. The prime focus of the institute is to develop an industrial-ready workforce as well as algal biotechnological entrepreneurs. Moreover, AARI is bridging between academia and biotechnology industries. We do research on Microbial and Molecular Biology. Our team members are being part of many industries as consultants.
Are you holding Master’s degree and looking for fully funded PhD positions? Aalto University, Finland invites online application for multiple funded PhD Programs / fully funded PhD positions in various research areas.
Candidates interested in fully funded PhD positions can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. Interested and eligible applicants may submit their online application for PhD programs via the University’s Online Application Portal.
The candidate will be working in a project that is centered around chemical cleavage of bonds in forest biomass. The aim is to reveal reaction mechanisms and their efficiency in order to aid selection of chemical means to release material streams from forest biomass and to establish pretreatment strategies for resource and energy-efficiently release the resources for materials engineering. The aim for the doctoral candidate is to become an expert in lignocellulosic chemistry.
We are now seeking a Doctoral Researcher in Optimisation to work in Dr. Schiewe’s research group. The group’s research is focused on developing models and methods for optimization problems related to sustainable mobility and urban planning. Especially integrated approaches to sequential problems are developed and analysed as they allow for a larger solution space. To solve the resulting complex problems, exact approaches for special problem classes are developed and used to build specialized heuristics. Additionally, the value and costs of game theoretic approaches compared to socially optimal optimization approaches are considered.
Dr Ala-Laurila has two laboratories: one at Aalto University and one at University of Helsinki. Both labs work in integrated collaboration and have state-of-the art approaches to study retinal circuits and visually-guided behavior. They combine cutting-edge electrophysiological recording techniques with precise manipulations of retinal circuit function, mathematical modelling and quantitative behavioral measurements.
We are searching for a full-time Doctoral Researcher working on Human-Computer Interaction. The research will focus on user studies and interactive systems. This position will be funded based on an initial 2-year contract + 2 years extension. The key idea is to apply theories, models, and methods from psychology to research in human-computer interaction.
We are seeking a highly motivated doctoral researcher to join our research team (Biopolymer Chemistry and Engineering group lead by Prof. Michael Hummel) to investigate the upcycling of protein materials from industrial waste streams (e.g. keratin) into sustainable fibers. The project is led by Dr. Wenwen Fang, funded by FinnCERES. It aims to develop renewable resources for the textile industry to create a circular economy.
You will work on design, fabrication, and characterization of electrically driven nanoscale molecular machines. As a member of the group, you will be trained in advanced methods in DNA nanotechnology (especially DNA origami), and state-of-the-art electron beam and optical microscopy and nanoscopy techniques. Depending on the background and scientific interests, your research will be directed either towards i) fabrication of active plasmonic surfaces and biosensors; or ii) construction of artificial molecular motors. We expect you to propose and develop scientific ideas and technical solutions (both individually and as part of a team), write scientific articles and contribute to teaching.
Are you a passionate developer of sustainable energy systems? We are now looking for a PhD candidate to support end-of-life battery energy harvesting at Aalto University’s Energy Conversion and System research group. In this position you will have a chance to make an impact on safer battery handing at end-of-line and ensurance that the critical raw materials can be recovered for new battery applications.
We invite applications for a Ph.D. position in the field of generative machine learning for quantum many-body matter. The prospective Ph.D. researcher will work on designing quantum phenomena with a combination of many-body and machine-learning techniques. In particular, the project will exploit quantum many-body methods in combination with generative adversarial machine learning methods, including transformer and diffusion models. The prospective Ph.D. researcher will ultimately develop generative machine learning methodologies to design novel correlated states combining theoretical and experimental data.
We are looking for an excellent PhD candidate to join our Real Estate Research Group. This specific position aims to provide a smooth transition from Aalto’s Master’s Real estate-related programmes to Doctoral studies. Thus, it is specifically targeted to those students, who have not graduated yet or have graduated during the academic year 2022-2023. We welcome applications from students in their first year of the Master’s programme as well as those who are already working on their Master’s thesis.
We are looking for a PhD student to join the Computational Electronic Structure Theory (CEST) group at the Department of Applied Physics at Aalto University. In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact in atmospheric science by applying tools from quantum chemistry and artificial intelligence to molecular modelling of aerosol chemistry. Your project will be a part of the recently founded Center of Excellence in Research on Atmospheric Science, VILMA (funded by the Academy of Finland in the period 2022-2029). Our long-term objective is to understand molecular aggregation processes in the atmosphere and how they affect air quality and climate change.
