PhD Studentship - Algae PhDs fellowship UK

PhD Studentship - Algae        Dr Jonathan Lee ,  Dr Gary Stephen Caldwell  Friday, May 31, 2024  Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide) About the Project PhD project part of the  CDT in Process Industries: Net Zero . The successful PhD student will be co-supervised by academics from the  Process Intensification Group  at Newcastle University.  Microalgae are playing increasingly prominent roles in wastewater bioremediation, where their well-known ability to absorb metals, nitrogen and phosphorous is used in solar driven processes that clean up the wastewater. A process co-developed by Newcastle University and Northumbrian Water Ltd (NWL) and installed at the Bran Sands treatment works on Teesside, uses an ammonophilic microalga ( Chlorococcum  sp.) originally isolated from Bran Sands to remediate ammonium from the site’s anaerobic digesters. The process is stable, well characterised, and is being implemented at scale. It is central to NWL’s nutrient neutrality and net zero ambitions

Northwestern University, Illinois invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. 1. Postdoctoral Position  Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship: Postdoctoral fellow positions are available in The Han Lab in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. The Han lab studies the mechanisms of how lung epithelial cells repair after injury and how aberrant repair occurs resulting in fibrosis, especially in the elderly. We are particularly interested in mitochondrial metabolism and how cellular metabolism affects lung epithelial stem cell function and fate, in the context of lung development and lung repair after injury. We are also inte

Our broad range of subjects, the dynamic development of our main research areas and our central location in Cologne, make us attractive for students and researchers from around the world. We offer a wide range of career opportunities in science, technology, and administration. The new research initiative ‘Immunometabolism in Health and Disease’, financed by the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, is a highly interdisciplinary project in which molecular, cellular and biochemical data from plant and animal systems will be produced to advance the understanding of cellular metabolic programmes underpinnin

University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada invites multiple online application for Postdoctoral Fellowships in various research areas. Candidates interested in Postdoctoral Fellowships can check the details and may apply as soon as possible. 1. Postdoctoral Position  Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship: The research general objectives are to screen USDA, ARS sweet potato germplasm for accumulation of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb) to identify germplasm and genetic markers that can be used in public breeding programs for development of varieties that have low levels of toxic heavy metals to ensure a safe source of food for human consumption. This project addresses a gap in knowledge in the accumulation potential of heavy metals in sweet potato. At the completion of these studies, the expectation is that we will have provided knowledge regardin
