6. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

A fully funded postdoctoral position is available in the Clements group in the Department of Hematology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to study how the adult hematopoietic system is established during vertebrate embryonic development. We are interested in understanding how early precursors of the sympathetic nervous system and vascular smooth muscle precursors interact with developing endothelial cells to establish the earliest hematopoietic stem cells. Our recent findings (Nature Cell Biology, 19:457-467, 2017) and unpublished data define the existence of this connection in in vertebrates and we are now working to better understand key details.

7. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Immunology postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Hongbo Chi in the Department of Immunology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Chi lab investigates immunobiology and cancer immunology, by focusing on metabolic regulation of the immune system (immunometabolism) and its implications in cancer and other diseases. As metabolic pathways are inextricably connected to immunity and cancer, understanding these connections allows us to gain new insights into biological concepts and disease targets. We are particularly interested in understanding the metabolic programs (e.g., amino acid and lipid metabolism), signaling pathways (e.g., mTOR and nutrient-induced signaling), and systems-level regulatory networks (e.g., protein–protein or driver gene–target gene interactions) that regulate basic T cell and dendritic cell biology and antitumor immunity.

Application Deadline: Open Until Filled

8. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Cancer Stem Cell Dynamics laboratory of Dirk Loeffler is seeking exceptionally motivated and ambitious candidates for a Postdoctoral Position, starting Jan. 1st, 2024, or the earliest date thereafter. If you are curious, creative, and goal-oriented with a keen interest in science, technology, and data this is the right position for you! We study the genetic and epigenetic changes in blood stem and progenitor cells during hematopoietic diseases and aging. The ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated, independent, hard-working, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experiences in cell and molecular biology or related fields and a strong desire to learn new techniques are prerequisites.

9. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

The Chen Lab studies: i) Chemical modulation of transcription; ii) Signal crosstalk among transcription factors; and iii) Selective inhibition of highly homologous enzymes. We take a hypothesis-driven and technology-enabled multidisciplinary approach to develop chemical probes and investigate biological mechanisms. Particularly we use the promiscuous xenobiotic nuclear receptors (PXR and CAR) as models to investigate the transcription networks that regulate therapeutic responses. PXR and CAR regulate the detoxification system (e.g., by transcriptionally controlling CYP3A4 and CYP3A5—drug-metabolizing enzymes that metabolize more than 50% of clinical drugs), the dysregulation of which contributes to drug toxicity and drug resistance.

10. Postdoctoral Position

Summary of Postdoctoral Fellowship:

Immunology postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Bo Hu in the Department of Immunology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Hu lab investigates immunobiology, immunometabolism, and neuroimmunology, by focusing on the interaction of the immune system and the nervous system and its implications for health and diseases. As the immune system and nervous system are tightly connected to regulate host physiology and pathology, understanding these connections allows us to gain new insights into biological concepts and disease targets. The Hu laboratory will combine advanced cellular and molecular techniques in immunology and neurobiology with genetic-engineering tools, quantitative proteomics, and multiplex imaging systems to interrogate neuro-immune interaction in pathophysiological conditions.
