Our lab is focused on the importance of G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in the development of pruritis, pain, and inflammation. The research project will study the role of GPCR trafficking and intracellular signaling on pruritis and pain and will use nano-therapies to specifically target and attenuate the endosomal signaling of GPCRs. Applicant will be involved in the design and development of experiments from signaling assays and live cell imaging using FRET and BRET biosensors, to behavioral models of pruritis and pain.

This position is funded by a new NIH grant, and focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of spatial navigation using multi-area recordings in freely moving non-human primates in the context of foraging tasks. Aspects of this problem include determining the mechanisms representing and updating beliefs about location of self and targets, through the lens of interaction between multiple cortical areas. A significant component of the work focuses on developing new statistical data analysis tools for understanding inter-area communication in the context of naturalistic behavior.
