Ph.D. position in algal biotechnology PhD position - 3 years (m/f/d) Algal biotechnology Leipzig University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Institute of Biology, Plant Physiology group of Prof. Severin Sasso, Leipzig, Germany Start: 1 July 2024 Deadline: 7 May 2024 The Plant Physiology group at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, offers a Ph.D. position (Promotionsstelle) starting from 1 July 2024, subject to formal funding approval. Activities and responsibilities The unicellular alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii secretes substantial amounts of glycolate under photorespiratory conditions (Taubert et al., Plant Biotechnol. J. 17, 1538-1546 (2019)). As glycolate is an important industrial chemical, its production in a photosynthetic microorganism opens up the long-term potential to establish a biotechnological industry based on renewable resources. The aim of a new third-party-funded project is to improve glycolate secretion. For this purpose, we want to use physical mutagenesis (e.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP/TRAINING/WORKSHOPS

Annakkili Amma Research Institute (AARI) organizes various Internship programs and Training/Workshops on various topics to provide hands-on training exposure on various techniques of Biology. The objective is to bring the students and young researchers into one platform to improve their practical skills.

In August 2022, AARI conducted fifteen days of summer Internship programs in which students from Marine Biology, Port Blair Campus, Pondicherry University, and the program started on 16th August. The candidates utilized the fifteen-day program to develop their knowledge of Algal Biotechnology and Seaweed Technology.

The program started with the theory session regarding Algae Culture, Biomass Production, Media Preparation, Sample Collection, Slide Preparation, Microscopy, Documentation (Photomicrography & Camera Lucida), Culture Inoculation, Biomass harvesting, Biomass processing, and Lipid extraction. after the Theory session, every technique was practically done by each candidate separately...

In seaweed Technology, students visited Covelong Point, Kovalam, Chennai for seaweed collection and they learned algal preservation techniques,  biomass processing, and Production of Seaweed Liquid Fertilizer Production and Agar Agar Extraction.

This Post contains the Name List of the students, who participated in both Internship Program during 16th August 2022 to 30th August 2022. This list is to cross verify the certificate provided by AARI (AARI certificates are provided with QR codes if anyone wants to check the authenticity of the certificate can simply scan and verify the Name and AARI register Number).
