Advertisement for the post of intern Science Communication Internship on Aging and Muscle Health
About the position: Science Communication Intern: Building science communication deliverables around the topic of aging and muscle growth.
Role Description:
Primary Responsibilities and expectations:
The primary responsibility is the end to end organisation of a podcast on ageing and muscle growth including
Thematic collating, understanding, summarising of research pertinent to the podcast. Interests in fitness, nutrition and wellbeing is preferred
Coordinating with guest speakers and arranging for each session
Setting up the recording session with the provided equipment
Recording, editing and uploading the podcast
Promoting the podcast through blogs/social media and maintaining those channels
Will also have to account for 2-3 in person events to promote the podcast around Bangalore.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Being a member of the host lab community, they will be sitting with the lab and will be expected to attend talks and lab meetings to understand the topic of aging and muscle growth.
Contribute to podcast communication plans beyond only execution in terms of content, promotion and creative ideas/collaborations to promote the podcast and awareness of the topic in general.
We envision building a community around the topic of aging and muscle growth. The science communication intern will be expected to find and network with people of interest in academia, industry and beyond to build a community and audience around the topic.
Expectations:
We expect the candidate to be driven and motivated in pursuing the execution of the podcast.
While a plan of action and resources will be provided, the intern will be expected to drive the project and keep the timeline on track.
What should you bring to the team?
We are looking for someone with the following kinds of experience and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or above in a biological sciences subject
Excellent written communication skills as they will be communicating and coordinating with scientists and experts from a diversity of backgrounds.
Proficiency in designing posters using Canva, Photoshop, InDesign or any other image designing software
Must be ready to learn the technical aspects of recording and editing a podcast.
At least 6 months of experience in science communication and/or public engagement with science along with spoken communication skills (Readiness to talk and interact with people, host events etc)
Proven experience in writing science articles for expert and non-expert audiences (minimum 3-4 articles)
Interest in gaining new experiences
Ability to work in a team setting, and independently

While we expect the selected candidate to be driven and hardworking we will ensure that there is a good balance between work and personal life. There will be enough time to explore the campus, interact with the labs through the many talks and activities on campus and create new initiatives of your own!
We are focusing on quality over quantity. The internship period will involve planning and executing 6-10 podcast episodes over the course of the first six months with proper promotion and planning.

Remuneration:
